Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 8, 2026

PickClarity ("we," "us," "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account data: When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name.
  • Usage data: We collect anonymized page views, click events on affiliate links, and interactions with decision tools to improve our rankings and recommendations.
  • Device data: Browser type, device category (mobile/desktop/tablet), and approximate location (country level only) via IP geolocation.
  • Community content: Comments, votes, and feedback you submit are stored and displayed publicly under your display name.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide and improve our product ranking service.
  • To personalize your experience and remember your preferences.
  • To send transactional emails (account verification, password resets).
  • To detect and prevent abuse, spam, and fraudulent activity.
  • To measure affiliate link performance for our business operations.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

  • Service providers: Hosting (Vercel), database (Turso), analytics (Vercel Analytics) — all bound by data processing agreements.
  • Affiliate partners: When you click an affiliate link, the retailer receives a referral identifier. They do not receive your PickClarity account data.
  • Legal obligations: If required by law, court order, or to protect our legal rights.

4. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. Vercel Web Analytics measures site usage without analytics cookies. See our Cookie Policy for details.

5. Data Retention

Account data is retained while your account is active. Affiliate click measurements help us evaluate which pages are useful. New click measurements store the page path and device type, not the full IP address or arbitrary query strings. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

6. Your Rights

You can access, correct, or delete your personal data by contacting us. If you are in the EU/EEA, you have additional rights under GDPR including data portability and the right to object to processing.

7. Security

We use HTTPS encryption, secure authentication, and follow industry best practices for data protection. However, no system is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password.
